Homeless Vigil Committee Description

The Homeless Vigil Committee plans the annual Homeless Vigil to remember those who have lost their lives on while living on the streets.

8th Annual Norfolk Homeless Vigil

The Norfolk Homeless Consortium will host the 8th annual Homeless Vigil on Monday, December 22, 2008 from 5:30-7:00 pm. The starting point will be from the parking lot at the corner of Queen Street and St. Paul's Blvd. at 5:30pm. The walk will cover approximately 3/4 mile, ending at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

The Homeless Vigil is an annual walk in honor of those in our community who have lost their lives in the past year as a result of their homelessness. At the conclusion of the walk there is a reading of the names of those individuals and a candlelight ceremony, followed by light refreshments. Many of the participants are individuals currently experiencing homelessness in our city.
