Employment Taskforce Description

The Employment Taskforce works to develop strategies to help the homeless population gain and maintain employment.

2009-2010 Goals
Employment Taskforce

• Increase awareness of employment resources.

• Assist agencies in increasing and/or developing relationships with employers for all targeted populations with identified employment barriers to include ex-offenders.

• Connect NHC program participants to available training, educational and certification programs that can assist clients with obtaining employment to include job retention skills.

• Continue to plan and conduct Norfolk Employment Connect orientation, training, and job fairs. Focus on increasing the number of employers that will hire ex-offenders.

•  Develop a relationship with Chamber of Commerce to create a stronger workforce and utilize the opportunity to educate them on the ex-offender population.
